Personal Care
This includes soap, shampoo, a toothbrush, toothpaste, clothes washing powder, sanitary products & underwear. Basic essentials that we wouldn’t question buying for ourselves or our children.
£10
Shoes
A new pair of shoes. Most care leavers leave their orphanage with only flip-flops. Crucial for job interviews and many care leavers have physical jobs that keep them on their feet all day.
£15
Interview & first job clothes
A white shirt, trousers and a belt. Care leavers usually leave orphanages with just one set of worn out, casual clothes. Care leavers should be able to feel confident at work or job interviews.
£25
Young woman’s pack
Work saree, work shoes, underwear and sanitary products. Many workplaces and training centres require women to wear sarees. For many care leavers this will be their first saree.
£30
Bedding
A mattress, bedsheet, pillow and mosquito net. Crucial to maintain immaculate hygiene in a very warm and humid climate where there are lots of mosquitos and dengue fever is a constant danger.
£50
Hostel
One month of accommodation in a hostel including breakfast and dinner daily. Some care leavers can’t live in a transition home because their work is in more remote areas.
£60
A mobile phone & data
Absolutely crucial in order to have social interactions, communicate with employers, make connections and manage online banking. Phones are a lifeline for us all, even more so for care leavers.
£90
Vocational Training Courses NVQ3, NVQ4
One year full time course in vocational skills such as car mechanic, hairdressing, graphic designer, chef, plumbing or secretarial work. These qualifications give access to better paid jobs and a vocational direction for life.
£250
Complete Package
This package allows you to completely fund one care leaver for a year. This includes full board and lodging, a full-time vocational skills course (NVQ3, NVQ4), all course materials & uniform, plus pocket money.
£1000
Philanthropy
& Giving
Our overheads are minimal, every pound that you give will go to changing lives. We have learned that small sums can transform the trajectory of a young care leaver. Please help us to make a real difference. With simple support over a short period young people destined for a life of struggle and hardship can instead receive the support they need to thrive. They can acquire training and skills which will fundamentally change their prospects. Please consider making a small one-off donation through our website or, better still, sign up to be a regular donor.

Fundraise at
Home or School
Brighter Path is about giving young people in children’s homes in Sri Lanka the chance to achieve their dreams. We operate on a very modest budget and your school’s fundraising efforts will make a huge difference on the ground. You have a real opportunity in your school to help young people of a similar age whose life chances are very different. If you would be interested in raising funds for Brighter Path we would love to hear from you.
